The Harvia R-991 is a rounded olivine diabase sauna stone designed primarily for use in the upper layers of compatible electric sauna heaters and wood-burning sauna stoves. Its naturally rounded profile creates a refined appearance while allowing water to move between the stones and into the lower stone layers. Harvia recommends combining rounded stones with same-sized angular stones in the lower layers, particularly in heaters with smaller stone capacities. The angular lower stones provide additional exposed surface area, while the R-991 rounded stones create the finished upper layer. Each box contains approximately 33.1 lb (15 kg) of natural grey olivine diabase stones measuring 2–4 in (5–10 cm). Because these are natural stones, individual shape and size will vary. Harvia R-991 stones are available only with the purchase of a Harvia sauna heater or stove.
