Their large 4–6 in (10–15 cm) split-face profile provides substantial thermal mass and exposed stone surface for traditional water-on-stone sauna bathing. The split-face construction is particularly suited to compatible wood-burning sauna stoves, where the stones absorb and retain heat before releasing it gradually into the sauna. Their irregular natural surfaces also provide ample surface area for water application and steam generation. Because these are natural stones, every piece varies in shape and size. Cozy recommends purchasing an additional box when needed to provide a broader selection of stones for proper fit and arrangement within the heater's stone cage.
